The decision most people are stuck on
Curtains or blinds?
Curtains are fabric panels that hang from a rod or track and draw sideways. Blinds are a single fitted unit — slats or one panel — that raises, lowers or tilts within the window frame. In UAE homes the honest answer is usually both: blinds on the windows that need heat and glare control, curtains where you want softness and sound absorption.
| Curtains | Blinds | |
|---|---|---|
| Blocking daylight | Total, with blackout lining | Total with blackout roller or Roman; slats leave hairlines |
| Heat and glare | Good — the fabric mass insulates | Excellent — tilt to deflect sun without losing the view |
| Space taken | Needs wall either side to stack back | Sits inside the recess, takes no wall |
| Sound in the room | Softens echo noticeably | Minimal effect |
| Cleaning | Machine washable on most fabrics | Wipe with a damp cloth |
| Starting price | AED 1,030 | AED 132 |
| Typically chosen for | Bedrooms, living and dining rooms | Kitchens, bathrooms, offices, studies |

How ordering works
From first message to fitted, in four steps
-
We measure
Send us your window photos on WhatsApp, or book a site visit anywhere in Dubai. We take the width, drop and recess depth ourselves so the fit is on us, not on you.
-
You choose
Fabric, colour, heading style, track or rod, manual or motorised. Bring the room's photos to the Al Quoz showroom and handle the samples against your own light.
-
We make it
Cut, sewn and assembled in our own workshop to your exact dimensions — not ordered in from a catalogue of standard sizes.
-
We fit it
Our team installs the track, brackets and panels and takes the packaging away. Fitting is included in the prices above.
Before you order
Measuring your windows
Getting the drop wrong is the most common and most expensive mistake in this category — a curtain that stops 40mm short of the floor reads as a mistake from across the room, and it can't be fixed after cutting.
If you'd rather not measure at all, don't. Book a measurement visit and we'll do it.
Three things to get right
- Width: measure the track or rod, not the glass. Curtains need extra width beyond the frame on both sides so they stack clear of the window when open.
- Drop: from the top of the track to where the fabric should finish — sill, below sill, or floor. Decide this before you measure, not after.
- Recess depth: for blinds, check there's clearance for the roller or headrail inside the frame. If there isn't, the blind mounts outside the recess instead.

Questions
What people ask before ordering
What is the difference between curtains and blinds?
Curtains are fabric panels that hang from a rod or track and draw open sideways. Blinds are a fitted unit — either horizontal slats that tilt, or a single fabric panel that rolls or folds — operating vertically inside the window recess. Curtains soften a room and absorb sound; blinds control glare precisely and take up no wall space. Full comparison here.
How much do custom curtains cost in Dubai?
Our made-to-measure curtains start at AED 1,030 for a blackout-with-sheer set and AED 1,144 for pinch pleat or linen pleat. Blinds start considerably lower — from AED 132 for an aluminium Venetian. Final price depends on window width and drop, since everything is cut to size. Fitting is included.
Do you make curtains for non-standard window sizes?
Yes — that's the whole point of made-to-measure. Every curtain and blind is cut to your window's exact dimensions in our Al Quoz workshop. Odd shapes, extra-wide spans and floor-to-ceiling glass are all handled.
Which curtains block the most heat in Dubai summers?
Blackout fabric with a dense weave blocks the most direct sun. A layered set — sheer plus blackout on a dual track — gives you the full range: sheer through the day for filtered light, blackout drawn across the afternoon sun. On east and west-facing windows, Venetian or wooden blinds are also effective because you can tilt the slats to deflect the sun without closing the room off. See our guide to blackout curtains in Dubai.
What are Roman blinds?
A Roman blind is a single fabric panel that gathers into soft horizontal folds as it lifts, rather than rolling onto a tube. It gives the tailored look of a curtain in the compact footprint of a blind. We make them in blackout fabric and in sheer. More on Roman blinds.
Are motorised blinds available?
Motorised operation is available on selected ranges, including our sheer Roman blinds. Manual cord and wand controls are standard. Message us with your window details and we'll confirm what's available for the range you're looking at.
Is installation included in the price?
Yes. Professional fitting is included with our curtains and blinds — our team mounts the track or headrail, hangs the panels and clears the packaging.
Can I see and feel the fabrics before ordering?
Please do. Fabric behaves differently under UAE daylight than it does on a screen, and weight and drape are hard to judge from photos. Our showroom on 26th Street, Al Quoz 4 has the full range in hand. Message us on WhatsApp before you set off and we'll have the relevant samples ready.
